Kiera Indiana is a Melbourne-based emerging designer.
She is interested in exploring the boundaries between person, nature, and society. Drawing upon themes of dystopia and biophilia, her work explores how clothing can offer both physical and emotional protection, offering armour from an increasingly unpredictable world.
In addition, the values of sustainability, upcycling and use of natural fibres form a consistent theme throughout her work, alongside design codes rooted in hand-sewn details and social commentary.
Kiera’s approach is deeply research-led and personal. She frequently draws upon autoethnography to explore her heritage and identity, layering personal narrative with broader social analysis.
As a result, Kiera’s design philosophy elegantly combines contemporary and vintage concepts with architectural and organic silhouettes.
Recently, Kiera was a recipient of the Whitehouse Institute of Design X EVERAU design award.
